HEALTHY INDOOR
AIR IS HERE

We're lucky to have good outdoor air quality here,

but the air inside our homes needs help.

VISION

We’re here to change the way the Kiwi's think about ventilation

For too long we've been told that pushing air from the roof cavity into a home is a good ventilation solution. It's not.

Traditional Positive Pressure Systems

These work by pushing air into your home from the roof cavity. The theory is that the pressurised air will leak out through gaps around doors & windows, taking moisture with it.

It’s a simple concept and these are the most common systems in NZ but there are concerns around air quality and effectiveness in newer, more air-tight homes. Glass fibre insulation, dust, pollens, mould spores, and rodent droppings are found in most roof cavities. Newer homes have rubber seals around doors and windows to prevent air leaks.

Ventilation systems that draw air from the roof cavity do not meet the NZ building code.

Airconics Balanced Pressure ERV

Works by extracting equal amounts of stale and damp air from the home, and introducing fresh outside air to replace it.

This cycle of air through the home improves air quality and results in the removal of moisture and condensation.

Our large, resin core heat exchanger works to retain as much of the heat from the outgoing air as possible. And our HEPA H13 filters remove pollens and fine particulates from incoming fresh air.

LARGER HEAT EXCHANGER

When heating your home in winter, our large resin core heat exchanger works to retain more of the heat from the outgoing stale air. By shifting more heat to the fresh incoming air, you effectively pre-heat the fresh air and take the pressure off your primary heat source.

In summer, heat is transferred in the opposite direction to effectively pre-cool fresh incoming air.

HIGH GRADE HEPA H13 FILTRATION

Our washable, reusable carbon pre-filter collects larger dust particles and insects that may be sucked into the air intake.

This prolongs the life of the finer HEPA filter (fitted to some models) which is manufactured by 3M to the European H13 standard. This high grade filter can remove well over 99% of PM2.5 fine particles (microscopicparticulate matter in the air as small as 2.5 microns in size).

WHY VENTILATE?

Whilst we spend most of our time indoors, Kiwi's generally only think about ventilation when they have condensation running down the windows. The truth is that condensation, caused by high humidity, is just one sign of poor Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

Condensation can occur less often in newer homes due to double glazing, but indoor moisture levels can be just as high due to the air-tight nature of new homes. They simply don't breathe like a draughty old villa.

CO2, VOC's & PM2.5 on the other hand aren't visible. Breathing high levels of carbon dioxide can result in headaches, and tiredness. While PM2.5, referring to fine particulates less than 2.5 microns in diameter, can penetrate deep into our lungs and may cause irritation.
